Heat Advisory In Place This Weekend

Posted on 15 June 2018 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—After a Flash Flood Warning expired Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory that includes the KWBG listening area.  The Heat Advisory was not an unexpected announcement.  Here’s the word from the Weather Service:

A heat wave will blanket much of the region through the weekend. Daytime highs will reach the mid to upper 90s in many areas, with lows only dropping into the mid-70s. This will result in heat index values of 100 to 105 degrees each afternoon. Warm overnight temperatures will offer little relief from the oppressive conditions. If outside, make sure to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Seek an air conditioned place for relief and assist those without air conditioning. Relief from the heat will arrive next Monday or Tuesday as a cool front moderates temperatures and brings thunderstorms back to the area.
