Council To Consider Site Plans Monday Evening

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will give consideration to at least two site plan recommendations made by the city’s Plan and Zoning Commission following a meeting last week.  The Plan and Zoning Commission forwarded a favorable recommendation for Schultz Laboratories proposed site plan for 2618 Eastgate Drive.  The plan calls for the construction of a nearly 13,000 square foot building to house offices, warehouse and manufacturing in the R.L. Fisher Business Park.  The only concern raised by staff would be the size of the water line, should a sprinkler system be required.

Boone Plan and Zoning also recommended approval of the site plan for the proposed project at the Eastern Star Masonic Home at 715 West Mamie Eisenhower Avenue.  The plan calls for the construction of a Wellness Center and an elevator addition to the Courtyard Terrance Living facility.  Preliminary information on the project has been presented to the council when Eastern Star requested the city provide conduit funding for the project.

The site plan that remains in question is a proposal for Verizon to locate a building at 1211 SE Marshall Street.  This is a project that would have a building constructed in the parking lot of the current Fareway Education Center at 1215 SE Marshall Street.  Plan and Zoning identified several issues and requested the site plan be returned to P&Z for additional consideration once the issues had been addressed.

The Boone City Council will meet at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Boone City Hall.
