BOONE, Iowa—The Boone County Sheriff’s Department began an investigation into a reported sexual assault at the “Y” Camp on 166th Street in rural Boone County. According to the report from the Sheriff’s Department, an investigation revealed that the facilities had been rented by a third party group from Illinois during the time of the complaint. The “Y” Camp and the camps staff members were not involved with the complaint. Additionally, the investigation revealed that there were no supporting facts or information indicating that an assault of any kind had taken place. The report appears to have been the result of conversations about sexual activities by male adolescent juveniles. The Sheriff’s Department is working with the organizers of the Illinois camping group to address the matter.
