DES MOINES, Iowa—Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) has opened enrollment for the newly created “Facebook and Digital Marketing Certificate”. Earlier this summer, Facebook announced a plan to train 1 million people across the U.S. by 2020 and partnered with DMACC to arm individuals and small businesses with social media and digital marketing skills. Facebook has made an additional investment to the community by awarding $400 scholarships to the first 20 students.
Iowa businesses are already utilizing Facebook to find new customers, increase sales, and hire additional employees and 58% of Iowa’s small and medium businesses on Facebook say that digital and social media skills are important when hiring new employees*.
“This online program will provide a boost to individuals looking to compete for jobs in the digital economy,” says Michael Hoffman, Executive Director Continuing Education at DMACC. “It will also allow business owners to provide a way to upskill their workforce in this new and fast-paced area.”
