Saturday Passport Event Returns to Boone County

Posted on 27 September 2018 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Planning and Development Director Mike Salati says his office has done a couple of Saturday passport events in an effort to help those that can’t usually make it in during the regular work week.  The office has had two successful passport events already and with the holiday and winter travel season approaching, he says it just made sense to hold another Saturday opportunity to help the public.  The office will be hosting a Special Passport Event – October 6, 2018 from 8 to 12 noon at the Boone County Courthouse.  The Planning and Development Office will be open on these special Saturday hours to assist folks in getting their passports.  This is the only Saturday event scheduled in Iowa at this time!

Extra staff will be on hand to assist applicants.  This special Saturday Passport Event will allow folks who work during the week and their children to apply for a passport without having to take the kids out from school and take time off from a work day.  The Planning and Development Department can also provide onsite photo services while you wait.

Forms and information are available online at www.travel.state.gov for folks wishing to fill their forms out ahead of time.  They can be printed off and brought to the event to save even more time!  Applicants must apply in person and children applicants must also appear as well.  Applicants should bring their original birth certificate having the official seal from the issuing agency or a certified copy and their driver’s license or other government issued picture ID.

Check the website: www.travel.state.gov  for more information or call the Boone County Planning and Development Office if you have questions.  Salati says there are other websites that will promote  passport service, but there are additional fees associated with those sites.  He said to make sure to use the correct website and again, if there area any questions, contact the Boone County Planning and Development office at 515-433-0550.
