AMES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Transportation is reporting that a tile line has broken under the shoulder of U.S. 30 just north of Ralston. The roadway will be closed to traffic for emergency repairs around 5 p.m. today. The roadway could be closed for 7 to 10 days for emergency repairs.

Motorists will be detoured around the work zone using Carroll/Greene County Road N-58 and Greene County Road E-39 (see map).

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
