Posted on 03 February 2019 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The James H. Andrews Railroad Museum and History Center will host the second in a series of historical presentations on Saturday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m.  Mike Wendel, Director of the Museum and History Center says that railroad historian and Board member of the Kalona Historical Society, Steve Miller will present the free program entitled Railroads Through the English Valley.

Wendel says Miller’s program will feature rare Iowa railroad photos centering on the railroad in eastern Iowa from Muscatine to What Cheer and then on to Montezuma.  Wendel says railroad development occurred in several steps back in the 1870’s.  Coal mining was a part of that development.  He also says there are many other interesting stories about railroad history in the English Valley.

The historical presentations have become very popular at the James H. Andrew Museum and History Center which led to moving the programs to the main gallery.  The programs are free but for those wishing a tour of the museum, there is a charge.  Additional information may be found at www.bsvrr.com.
