Boone Industrial Park Secures Certified Site Status

Posted on 12 March 2019 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Today, Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced that a development-ready site, located in Boone, is the latest industrial site to achieve certification through the Iowa Certified Site Program.  The Boone Industrial Park-Phase II is the 24th site in the state to receive this project-ready designation.

Kurt Phillips, Executive Director of the Boone County Economic Growth Corporation called the effort a game changer for the area.

Debi Durham, IEDA Director noted that communities are responsible for securing the land for a certified site, done locally with the Grabau Family.  The property is right north of the Boone and Scenic Valley Rail Line to the industrial park, something Durham called very attractive.

Durham also said IEDA will be marketing the site along with others, but being prepared if a business is ready to move or build is essential.

Durham says having a certified site will help attract potential development, or expansion, but local communities will be instrumental in securing economic growth.

The certified site program was launched in May 2012. The Boone County Economic Growth Corporation, Boone City Economic Development Committee and city staff, WHKS Engineering, Alliant, Ogden Telephone and former Economic Development Director Bob Fisher were among the many people participating in the work done to secure the certified designation.
