BOONE, Iowa—This week, a Boone County District Court Associate Judge sentenced Justin Lee Alexander, 31 years old of Boone, Iowa, to ten (10) years in prison as a result of guilty convictions for Domestic Abuse Assault by Strangulation, Domestic Abuse Assault, False Imprisonment, Criminal Mischief, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.  The court noted that the convictions all run consecutive to each other because of the “distinct and separate nature of the crimes as well as the diverse impacts on the victim as well as the defendant’s need for extended rehabilitation and protection of the community favor consecutive sentencing.”  The sentence is a result of a guilty verdict on February 27, 2019, when a Boone County jury found Justin Lee Alexander guilty on 5 separate counts, including: Domestic Abuse Assault Strangulation, Domestic Abuse Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, False Imprisonment, Criminal Mischief, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.
