BOONE, Iowa—The Iowa Military Veterans Band and the Collins Aerospace Band will return to the 28th annual Iowa Municipal Band Festival on Saturday, July 13 in Boone, Iowa. The military veterans band will play at noon, and the Collins band will perform at 1 p.m. The Boone band plays at 6 p.m.
The 2019 lineup includes three bands from the Des Moines metro area. The Greater Des Moines band will play at 11 a.m., the Urbandale band will perform at 2 p.m. and the Des Moines New Horizons Band will play at 4 p.m. In addition, the Ames and Ballard bands perform at 3 and 5 p.m., respectively.
The Boone Municipal Band hosts the Iowa Municipal Band Festival at Herman Park Pavilion in Boone. It is a free event. Bring a lawn chair or use the bleacher seating or picnic tables and hear a great line-up of community bands. RSVP and the First United Methodist Church music department will man the food court where sandwiches, pies, ice cream and drinks will be on sale. A shuttle service will be available to transport you from your vehicle to the pavilion. This event is held rain or shine.

Before the Municipal Band Festival, the Boone Municipal Band will be performing their annual 4th of July Concert at Herman Park Pavilion. The VFW is once again participating with brats and burgers for a nominal fee.
