Excessive Rain Fall Leads to Flood Warning Until Thursday Morning

BOONE, Iowa—Saturated ground and heavy rain led to the National Weather Service issuing a Flood Warning affecting Boone and Story Counties until Thursday morning:

The National Weather Service in Des Moines  has issued a

* Flood Warning for Urban Areas and Small Streams in...
  Story County in central Iowa...
  Boone County in central Iowa...

* Until 900 AM CDT Thursday.

* At 903 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported flooding causing
  road closures in Boone and Story Counties. Although flood waters
  are expected to slowly subside overnight, overland flooding
  impacts will continue to affect area roadways. Check with local
  county officials for the latest road information.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
  Ames, Boone, Nevada, Story City, Ogden, Roland, Gilbert, Iowa State
  Center, Boone Speedway, Colo, Zearing, McCallsburg, Kelley,
  Boxholm, Pilot Mound, Luther, Fraser, Beaver, Berkley and Boone
  Municipal Airport.

This warning replaces the earlier Flood Warnings in effect for these
areas.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. Never drive around barricades.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
