HIRTA Central Office Evacuated Due to Gas Leak

Posted on 18 September 2019 by KWBG

URBANDALE, Iowa—A gas leak has forced the evacuation of the Heart of Iowa Regional Transit central office in Urbandale.  Brooke Ramsey, Business Development Manager, sent a notice to media about a gas leak on 104th Street in Urbandale forcing the closure of two buildings including the HIRTA central office.  She reported that staff was told it would be a few minutes before Mid American Energy could shut off the gas line, however after several hours officials have reported that the source of the gas leak has not been identified and it could take some time before staff will be permitted to return.  Ramsey said HIRTA thanks the public for their patience during this event.
