Special School Election Results in Boone County

KWBG 03/03/20

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Philippe E. Meier has released the unofficial elections results from Tuesday’s Special School Election in Boone County.  The biggest voter turnout was in the Madrid School District where voters were considering a proposed $5.8 million bond issue to allow for building additions and remodeling to the Madrid Junior/Senior High School and to the Madrid Elementary School.  The bond issue question was supported by over 62% of the voters with 337-yes votes to 202-no votes.  The second question, establishing the levy to pay for the issue received 314-yes votes and 222-no votes or 58% approval.

Boone School District patrons were asked to approve a required Revenue Purpose Statement to be able to continue using the State of Iowa Secure an Advanced Vision for Education Fund.  Voters approved the statement with 221-yes votes to 5-no votes.

United voters also approved the Revenue Purpose Statement for that district, 26-yes votes to 1-no vote.

Election results are unofficial until canvassed by the Boone County Supervisors.
