Green Seeks Republican Nomination for Senate District 24

KWBG 03/05/20

HARCOURT, Iowa—Fifth-generation farmer and local educator, Jesse Green, of rural Harcourt, is announcing his Republican candidacy for District 24 of the Iowa Senate.

“I’m running for Iowa Senate to ensure our state of Iowa continues to grow as the best place for current and future generations of Iowans. The quality of life and development of our rural communities is not only important to our district, but to all those across this great state. As a state senator, I will bring solutions and new perspectives to agriculture and conservation. I will maintain a focus on quality education and a responsible and responsive state government to ensure a thriving Iowa.”

Green is heavily involved in Farm Bureau, serving as secretary of the Webster County Farm Bureau Board and is involved in the Farm Bureau Ag Leaders program. He’s continually given back to the betterment of his community and has served as an officer of the Dayton Rodeo and Celebration Committee. Across various leadership positions, including former Chair of the Dayton Rodeo, Green developed a vision for improvements and pursued substantial growth in the area’s long-standing rodeo tradition.

“Agriculture is a backbone of Iowa. We must be prepared for the changes and transitions in farming that will largely affect rural Iowa. Supported with first-hand experiences, I want to see opportunities continue to expand for beginning farmers and conservation programs.”

In 2017, Green received the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance Top 10 Under 40 award and has also graduated from the Webster County Leadership classes sponsored by ISU Extension.

His genuine desire to serve others is also shown in his role as a Bible teacher at Community Christian School in Fort Dodge. Green currently takes classes through Emmaus Bible College and Iowa Central Community College to extend his education and servitude. A member of Countryside Bible Chapel in Stratford, Green’s faith is a guiding light in his decisions and willingness to serve others.
