On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 349 new cases of coronavirus in our state, an increase of 4 from the 345 COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday. Iowa has now had nearly 19,500 cases of coronavirus, which have resulted in over 530 deaths: 9 in Saturday’s update and 6 on Sunday, with 3 this weekend in Polk County. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 170 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County for a total of 4,225, 14 in Dallas for 900, 10 in Story for 115, 7 in Hamilton for 37, 2 in Webster for 39, and 4 in Boone County for 62 overall. Greene County holds steady at 13 cases. Statewide, there are 341 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, but more than 11,000 Iowans have recovered, including 35 in Boone County. For the 1 in 20 Iowans who have been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate stands at 12.6%.
