Iowa COVID-19 deaths pass 600

KWBG 06/07/20

On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 151 new cases of coronavirus in our state, a significant decrease from the 345 COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday.  Iowa has now had over 21,500 cases of coronavirus, which have resulted in more than 600 deaths:  8 in Saturday’s update and 5 on Sunday, with 3 this weekend in Polk County.  Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 110 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County for a total of 4,726, 17 in Story for 148, 9 in Dallas for 960, 7 in Webster for 81, 6 in Hamilton for 82, and 4 in Boone County for 76 overall. One case of coronavirus in Greene has been reassigned to another county, so the total there stands at 14.  Statewide, there are 269 patients currently hospitalized for COVID-19, but more than 12,750 Iowans have recovered, including 41 in Boone County.  For the 1 in 17 Iowans who have been tested for coronavirus, the infection rate has dropped to 11.5%.
