On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 328 new cases of coronavirus in our state, a decrease from the 385 COVID-19 cases reported on Saturday. Iowa has now had nearly 24,000 cases of coronavirus, which have resulted in 651 deaths: 9 in Saturday’s update, but only 1 on Sunday, with 3 this weekend in Polk County. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 121 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County for a total of 5,147, 36 in Story for 246, 32 in Dallas for 1,027, 7 in Hamilton for 119, 3 in Webster for 97, 1 in Greene for 21, and 7 in Boone County for an even 100 overall. Statewide, there are 203 patients currently hospitalized for COVID-19, but almost 14,500 Iowans have recovered, including 44 in Boone County. For the 1 in 14 Iowans who have been tested for coronavirus, the infection rate has dropped to 10.6%.
