BOONE, Iowa—Boone School Superintendent Dr. Brad Manard today released information about the recent decision to halt the Kid’s Club program operated by YSS at Page Elementary in Boone.  According to the release, the programs have been affected by a positive test for COVID-19.  The District’s BEP Childcare program will be affected during clean up efforts.  This is the release from the school district:

The YSS Kids Club, housed in Page Elementary School, had an individual who, on Monday tested positive with COVID-19. At this time the individual is not symptomatic, but we have followed the guidance of the Iowa Department of Human Services (which oversees the program) and the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to support the safety of our students and families.

Based on this, we have taken the following steps.
1. Kids Club is closed through June 28th.
2. Families of students in Kids Club have been asked to self-isolate their child for 14 days through June 28th.
3. BEP is also housed in Page Elementary, but there was no direct contact with the individual who tested positive and those in BEP. BEP is closed until Monday, June 22nd to allow deep cleaning and disinfecting of the school areas used this summer.

From the recommendations of the IDPH, it is not recommended that children in the program be tested, but that families monitor their temperature and wait to see if they display any symptoms. If a child does develop any symptoms families should communicate that information with their health care provider.

The Boone School Board recently voted to allow both programs to resume offering services to the public using the Page Elementary School.
