On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health confirmed that a “significant number” of coronavirus tests have not been reported this weekend due to a backlog in its electronic reporting system. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 216 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County for a total of 8,308, 65 in Webster for 530, 48 in Dallas for 1,545, 11 in Story for 931 there, 5 in Greene for 37, 3 in Hamilton for 212, and 4 in Boone County for 182 overall. Statewide, there are 214 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, an increase of 4 from Saturday, but almost 28,000 Iowans have recovered, including 128 in Boone County. For the 1 in 8 Iowans who have been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate remains at 9.3%.
