DES MOINES, Iowa—Iowa Workforce Development reported the state’s adjusted unemployment rate for June at 8% last week, down from 10.2% for May. Individual county rates this week, showed similar trends. Boone County dropped 1.5% from May to June and is currently reported at 6.2%. The number is still well over the 2.6% record in June of last year.
Story County experienced a 1% decline from May to June, dropping to 6.1%. A year ago Story County was at 2.4%. Webster and Hamilton Counties also decline 1% from May to June, with 7.7% and 6.7% respectively. Greene County dropped to 7% in June, down from 8.7% in May. In June 2019, Greene County has a rate of 3.4%. Dallas County fell from 7.2% in May to 5.8% in June and Polk County dropped from 11.8% in May to a June rate of 9.6%.
