BOONE, Iowa—Storm clean up in Boone is continuing. Boone City Administrator Bill Skare released a statement about the city’s activities so far. He said in his release that the city is aware there are citizens without power. He reported that as of this morning, Thursday, August 13th, the number was down to around 800. He added that he has daily telephone contact with a representative of Alliant.
Skare’s release also notes that some damage may be the responsibility of the homeowner. If that’s the case, he encouraged people to contact an electrician now because of potential backlogs.
Skare notes that following the information will limit the delay in receiving power because Alliant’s crew will not complete the connection until they know it’s safe for them and the customer, and they don’t want their customers to be without power any longer than they have to. He also noted the contact number for Alliant, 1800ALLIANT.
Skare also said city crews have already begun the clean up process and residents are encouraged to place storm damaged trees and limbs on their parking for pickup. The clean up is expected to take several weeks to complete.
The city expects to update information on the city website at www.boonegov.com and also on the city’s Facebook page.
The City Hall Auditorium will also be open as a cooling off venue for those who are without air conditioning today until 3:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
