On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health identified 750 new cases of COVID-19, a decrease from the 1,024 positive coronavirus tests reported twenty-four hours earlier. Iowa has had over 69,750 cases of COVID-19 and 1,165 Iowans have died from coronavirus: 23 on Saturday, with 16 of those in Polk County and two in Webster, and five in Sunday’s update. Since 4:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 210 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Polk County for a total of 14,012; 118 this weekend in Story for 2,884; 42 in Dallas for 2,487; 14 in Webster for 1,079 there; four in Greene for 65; two in Hamilton for 292; and 13 in Boone County for 375 overall. Statewide, there are 309 patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus, down half a dozen from Saturday and greater than 49,500 Iowans have recovered, including 262 in Boone County. For the one in five Iowans who have now been tested for COVID-19, the infection rate has increased slightly to 10.5%.
