BOONE, Iowa—Boone Public Works Director John Rouse told the Boone City Council Tuesday that Public Works and contractors had completed the first round of debris removal from the August 10th derecho. Rouse said between city personnel and contracted personnel they went through $56,000 before FEMA became involved. Since then, the cost has increased by another $30,000. He emphasized to the Council that there will be a second round of debris removal, which was planned from the very beginning. Rouse now that there’s been some rain, they will need to wait for conditions to improve.
In the meantime, Rouse encouraged residents to continue to put their tree branches and limbs in the parking. He also reminded people that if there’s a pile of debris in the parking, not to park in front of it.
