Boone County Voters Go Red

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County voters have supported Donald Trump, Joni Ernst, Randy Feenstra, Jesse Green, Phil Thompson and Robert Bacon in Tuesday’s General Election.  The support also carried down to Supervisor candidates Bill Zinnel and Erich Kretzinger.  Auditor Candidate Diane Patrick was unopposed and Boone County Sheriff Gregg Elsberry, the lone Democrat winner, was also unopposed.

The unofficial results have Trump ahead of Biden 8,676 to 6,293.  Ernst led Greenfield in the U.S. Senate race in Boone County 8,299 to 6,306.  Randy Feenstra led J.D. Scholten 8,164 to 6,443.

In the State Senate race in District 24, Jesse Green won Boone County with 9,167 votes to Cynthia Paschen 5,454.  Overall Green led Paschen 19,430 to 9645 with only some Story County votes remaining.

In House District 47, Phil Thompson leads Shelly Stotts in Boone County 6,165 to 5,033 and with the Greene County vote included, 9,492 to 6,504.

In House District 48, Robert Bacon won in Boone County with 1890 votes to 1,313 for Jack Friend.  Including Hamilton and Webster County that total was 8106 to 4,628 with only Story County votes missing.

Bill Zinnel leads all candidates for Boone County Supervisor with 7,102 votes, followed by Erich Kretzinger with 7,006.  Jim Uthe had 6,139 votes and Philippe Meier had 4,835.

Diane Patrick picked up 12,077 votes for Auditor and Sheriff Gregg Elsberry has 11,815 votes.  Both were unopposed.

Other vote totals included three candidates on the ballot for the Boone County Hospital Board of Trustees.  Emily McCarty received 8,924 votes, Troy Thompson had 8,404 votes and Denny Kollbaum had 8,081.

There was a race for the Boone County Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners.  Four candidates sought three positions.  Jeremy Gustafson received 7,760 votes, followed by Diana Wright with 6,487, Rosie Wurpts with 5,425 and April Burch with 5,294.  Gustafson, Wright and Wurpts are the apparent winners.

Four candidates were on the ballot for the Boone County Agricultural Extension Council.  Kyle Chesnut leads with 8,289 votes, followed by Kimberly Rinker with 7,667 votes, Doris Stotts had 7,640 votes and Andrew Heineman received 7,567 votes.

All numbers are unofficial pending the canvas of election results next week.
