DES MOINES, Iowa—House Speaker Pat Grassley (R-New Hartford) recently announced that Rep. Phil Thompson (R-Jefferson) will serve as the Chair of the House Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee during the 89th General Assembly.

Thompson most recently served as the Vice Chairman of the State Government Committee as well as the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals budget committee.

“Rep. Thompson is a strong leader who knows Iowa needs a smart economic development strategy to expand existing businesses, attract new businesses, and grow jobs. I know he will ensure that these strategies are funded in a responsible way and I am excited for him to be successful in this new role,” said Speaker Grassley.

The legislative session begins Monday, January 11, 2021.
