BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 72 year old Daniel C. Williams of Boone, formerly of Okoboji passed away at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on Friday, January 22, 2021. He was born on December 28, 1948 in Boone the son of Zeldon and Elaine (Hinman) Williams. On July 27, 1974 he married Peggy Rhoads of Woodward at the Woodward Christian Church.
Daniel was in the Army and was stationed in Germany prior to his marriage to Peggy. Dan was employed with the Iowa Department of Human Services for many years and was an administrator in the child support recovery unit until his retirement. Dan and Peggy lived in Okoboji for 39 years. When not working Dan could be found with his buddies fishing on the lake. Dan was well known for his fish fries. He also loved playing cards with his friends, being with his grandkids, gardening and his dog Max.
Dan is preceded in death by his father Zeldon and stepmother Phyllis Williams; brother Kent Hubby; sister Vicki Miller, brother-in-law Charlie Miller; stepfather Merle Hubby, and nephew John Lampe.
Survivors include his wife Peggy Williams of Boone; son Barry Williams of Ames; grandchildren Jenna and Hunter Williams of Ames; mother Elaine Hubby of Boone; sisters: Nancy (Ronnie) Van Cannon and Debby (Mike) Runge both of Boone; mother-in-law Martha McDowell of Woodward; sister in law Patti Abram; brother in law Bill Rhoads, and many nieces and nephews.
A private family service will take place at Grace Community Church in Boone, with Pastor Tim Trudeau officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
