On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported 458 new cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 189 in the last twenty-four hours, but pushing the pandemic total to over 329,000. Thirteen deaths were attributed to coronavirus on Saturday, including two in Polk County, and one each in Dallas and Greene Counties, but none on Sunday. However, 5,236 Iowans have succumbed to COVID-19. Since 5:00 on Friday afternoon in central Iowa, 223 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Polk County; 41 in Dallas; three dozen in Story; half a dozen in Webster; five in Hamilton; just one in Greene; and eight this weekend in Boone County for 2,364 cases overall. Now 240 Iowans are hospitalized with coronavirus, up 15 from Saturday, but more than 301,000 have recovered, 2,147 in Boone County alone, where the fourteen-day positivity rate remained steady for the last seven days at 7%.
