On Sunday, the Iowa Department of Public Health reported 423 new cases of COVID-19, a decrease of 137 in the last twenty-four hours, but pushing the pandemic total to over 359,000. Although 5,336 Iowans have succumbed to coronavirus, there have been no new deaths recorded this weekend. Since Friday night in central Iowa, 104 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Polk County; 22 in Story; 16 in Dallas; 15 in Webster; half a dozen in Hamilton; none in Greene and nine this weekend in Boone County for 2,566 overall. Just 229 Iowans are hospitalized with coronavirus, down nine from Saturday and more than 309,000 Iowans have recovered, including 2,208 in Boone County alone, where the seven-day positivity rate is now only 4%.
