Des Moines Motorcyclist Charged After Accident With Deputy

BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Sheriff Gregg Elsberry reported that deputies were responding to assist Story County with a call in Kelly Saturday evening, when an accident occurred as a Boone County Deputy was passing through Madrid.  Elsberry reported that Deputy Nate Benjamin was enroute to Kelly with lights and siren on when the motorcyclist pulled out infront of squad car.  The Iowa State Patrol handled the investigation and charged the operator of the motorcycle, 37 year old Ryan Gruis of Des Moines for operating while intoxicated.  The Iowa State Patrol has not released additional information on any injuries at this time.
