DMACC’s President Will Show “Holiday” at Governor’s Charity Steer Show

Posted on 02 August 2021 by KWBG

ANKENY, Iowa—DMACC President Rob Denson will show “Holiday” as DMACC’s entry in the annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show to be held during the Iowa State Fair. Cade Van Sickle of Dayton showed “Holiday,” a 1,350 pound steer that was a class winner at the recent Webster County Fair. “Holiday” is named after the late DMACC Professor Lauren Rice’s dog, “Holiday.”  Rice and her dog were killed after being run down by a motorist in April 2020.

Upon completion of the show, the steer will be auctioned off to benefit the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa. The auction has raised over $4 million to date, of which DMACC has helped raise well over $120,000 for the event in its 20 years of participation.
