Rasmussen Announces City Council Candidacy in Third Ward

KWBG 08/06/21

BOONE, Iowa—Todd Rasmussen has announced his intention to seek election to the Boone City Council. Rasmussen will be a candidate in the city’s 3rd Ward. He made this announcement available Friday:

Today I am announcing my candidacy for the Boone City Council 3rd Ward seat this November. I have spent the last 35 years in commercial/residential construction and am proud to call Boone my home with my wife Amy, our son Todd Jr and our local family history going back generations. My public service runs deep in the community, serving on the committee to select the new Boone School District Superintendent, a past key coordinator for “Avenue of Flags” in the Boone Optimist Club, to countless donated hours helping build the new Community Greenspace at 8th and Story to name a few. I have built new buildings; I have helped remodel commercial and residential properties working with partners across the community helping stretch their dollars to meet their needs. During that work having countless conversations about the struggles they are facing with tight finances, concern for their families growing up in today’s world, even about goals for giving their kids more opportunities than they had. The key to good construction is a solid foundation and the same holds with local government. We need to maintain and strengthen the structure that keeps us safe and prosperous with strong roads, library, parks, police, fire, and emergency services with the fiscal integrity that makes sense. Together we also need to work to create efficient private/public partnerships and utilize our state and federal elected officials to help fuel our local economic development momentum that is building Boone to new growth not seen in 50 years. Over the next months, I look forward to having even more community conversations while out door-knocking and while we might not always agree, you will always have my best efforts working on solutions to our problems and making Boone better.
