Boone County Fairgrounds Project a Finalist for Grinnell Mutual Fairground Facelift Grant

KWBG 08/25/21

GRINNELL, Iowa—Boone County Fairgrounds is one of 15 finalists in Grinnell Mutual’s 2021 Fairground Facelift promotion. They were chosen from nearly 50 submissions.

With votes from community members, the project for Boone County Fairgrounds, “Rabbit barn,” could receive a grant of up to $3,000 to help make it happen.

The project will make improvements to the rabbit barn, including upgrading the electrical and adding insulation. “The current electrical system trips circuit breakers,” said project sponsor Jessi Heyer.

How you can help Boone County Fairgrounds

You can help Boone County Fairgrounds receive a Fairground Facelift grant by voting for them.

“Fairgrounds provide a place for community members to gather,” said Grinnell Mutual Director of Advertising and Community Relations Barb Baker. “The Fairground Facelift grant is Grinnell Mutual’s way to help local fairgrounds improve and maintain current facilities.”

How to vote

Support your favorite fairground improvement project by voting on Grinnell Mutual’s website, https://www.grinnellmutual.com/about-us/newsroom/fairground-facelift-finalists. Anyone can visit Grinnell Mutual’s Facebook page or website to vote for project finalists. Select the voting link and follow the instructions on screen. People can vote once every 24 hours.

The top vote-getter will receive a $3,000 grant. The next two places in voting — second and third — will each receive a $1,500 grant.  Finally, the next three places in voting — fourth, fifth, and sixth — will each receive a $500 grant.

Voting ends Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 3 p.m. CT.
