BOONE, Iowa—The City of Boone announced today that there will be a public meeting to begin investigating opportunities to make broadband internet access available in the downtown area. City Administrator, Bill Skare released a statement Friday explaining the process.
In April the Ames EDC, who provides economic development services to the City of Boone conducted face to face surveys in the downtown district. Of interest to a large number of businesses was access to broadband. The City of Boone is evaluating funding opportunities to support the enhancement of broadband service in the downtown area. As a next step the City of Boone invites landlords in the downtown area to attend an informational meeting where broadband needs for residential property will be discussed. This meeting will be held September 13th at 5:00 pm in the City Auditorium. The information discussed at this meeting will be focused on landlords of residential rental property within the downtown district.
