Alfred Robert Morgan, son of Alfred and Lillian (Heitkamp) Morgan was born on May 20, 1932, in Ogden, Iowa. Bob graduated from Ogden High School with the Class of 1952. Following graduation, Bob honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On January 7, 1953, Bob was united in marriage to Shirley Ingalls. They were the first couple married in the new Zion Lutheran Church. Together they raised two daughters. Bob and Shirley lived on the family farm north of Ogden for 60 years. There wasn’t an animal Bob didn’t like, but his passion was raising cattle, sheep, and Samoyed dogs.
Bob enjoyed gardening, especially his 1½ acre strawberry bed, fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota, and enjoying the Black Hills. He loved having morning coffee with his buddies. Some of his greatest accomplishments included playing in the Boy’s State Basketball Tournament in 1952, coaching the Ogden Girls High School Softball team at the State Tournament in Fort Dodge, his Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2013, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob was a lifelong member of the Zion Lutheran Church. He served on the FSA Committee, Boone County Fair Board, was instrumental in starting the Ogden Booster Club, and was a charter member of Ogden’s Top Dogs. Bob was an avid supporter of Ogden athletics and had coached Jr. High boy’s basketball, was assistant coach of the High School boy’s basketball team, and was assistant coach and later head coach of the High School girls’ Softball team.
He is survived by his two daughters, Cindy Dubbert of Laurens, IA, and Nancy (Curt) Casey of Ogden, IA; three grandchildren; Stacy (Patrick) Carlin, Kyle (Megan) Casey, and Jason (Brooke) Dubbert; two great-grandchildren; James and Kate Carlin; one brother, Lowell Morgan of Ankeny, IA; sister-in-law, Ruth Ingalls of Boone, IA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Alfred and Lillian Morgan, Bob was also preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Shirley Morgan; son-in-law, Kevin Dubbert; and in-laws, Floyd and Anna Ingalls.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
