Collin (Buck) Buckingham

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 71 year old Collin (Buck) T. Buckingham of Boone, Iowa. He passed away on September 12, 2021 at his home.

Friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, where there will be a Masonic Service held at 7:00 P.M. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 20, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel.

On November 9, 1949 in Boone, Collin was born to Millard Jr. and Mildred (Adamson) Buckingham. He graduated from Boone High School in 1968.

Collin was united in marriage to Dorene Huffman on May 10, 1975 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone. Collin began working at John Deere Des Moines Works in Ankeny in 1973, retiring in 2005. While at John Deere, he proudly served as the Vice President and Committeeman for UAW Local 450.

Family and friends were very important to Collin. He enjoyed spending time with his family, getting ice cream at Dairy Queen, and having lunch with his buddies. Collin also enjoyed researching his Genealogy. Buck was a life long learner and teacher.

Collin entered Masonry at the Mirza Lodge #609 in Pilot Mound, Iowa in 1985. He was active in many organizations. Collin served numerous times as the Master of Mirza Lodge #609. He was past Junior Grand Steward of Grand Lodge of Masons in Iowa from 2018-2019. He was an active Scottish Rite and York Rite Mason. He was also a member of Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and Fez-B Shrine Club.

Collin loved nature, bird hunting and training his bird dogs with Jayde and Wrex. He was a member of Iowa Hawkeye North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association.

He liked to spend time doing carpentry and gunsmithing. Collin also enjoyed driving and long road trips. He spent time volunteering with RSVP.

Collin is survived by his wife, Dorene; daughters: Jeanine Buckingham (Ryan Brodie), Arista Buckingham, and Cassie Buckingham; son, Nathan (Amber) Buckingham; granddaughter, Jayde Buckingham; grandson, Wrex Wilson; granddaughters, Leila and Celia Buckingham; sisters, Channon Buckingham (Tim McKay) and Dominie Irvine; mother-in-law, Catherine Huffman; several in-laws; many nieces and nephews; a host of close friends; his Brothers of Masonry; and his four-legged hunting companions, Emmy and Zimbro.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard, Jr.; his mother, Mildred Chapman; father-in-law, Arvid Huffman.
