Posted on 20 September 2021 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—The list of candidates submitting the necessary paperwork to be on the upcoming municipal election ballot shows several contested races in Boone.  At this time, Boone Mayor John Slight is being challenged by the current Councilmember At Large, Holly Stecker.  Two candidates have filed for Stecker’s seat on the Council.  They are Linda Williamson and Annie Wallert.  In the 3rd Ward, Incumbent Elijah Stines faces a challenge from Todd Rasmussen.  In the 5th Ward, Councilmember Greg Piklapp is not seeking re-election and Cole Hilpipre and Scott Zeitler have filed petitions.  1st Ward Councilmember David Byrd is unopposed.

The Park Board election will be interesting as seven people have filed papers to be on the Board.  Three will be elected.  Candidates include:  David Sherry, Brandon Hurley, Kevin Pearson, Levi Baber, Amy Landas, Sarah Colby and John Niemants. Landas and Niemants currently serve on the Park Board.  Amy Pollard did not seek re-election.  Niemants had previously served on the Park Board and was appointed to the fill the vacancy created when Everett Johnson passed away last year.

The Municipal Election will be held November 2nd.
