Judy Sondall

KWBG 09/21/21

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are being planned for Judith Ann (Paris) Sondall, age 81 of Boone, Iowa. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Judy was born the 11th and final child of Cloyd and Olive (Martz) Paris on April 20, 1940 in Fraser, IA. She graduated from Pilot Mound High School in 1958. Judy worked at Fareway Stores, Inc. in her early adulthood.

On June 25, 1970, Judy was united in marriage with Donald Sondall at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland.

Judy was an in-home daycare provider while raising her two children and later worked in housekeeping at McFarland Clinic until her retirement.

Judy was an avid sports supporter. She played basketball in high school and continued that passion by following the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones, as well as the college football teams. She was also a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

Judy was a supporter of a variety of organizations, always giving to others any chance she could. She stood behind the veterans and their honorable service, loved animals (especially bird watching and her rescue dog, Cubbie) and was an unapologetic liberal. Judy also enjoyed baking and delivering treats to her family and friends.
Judy’s grandchildren were the apple of her eye and she treasured time spent with family.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Donald of Boone; son, Michael (Natasha) Sondall of Boone; daughter, Deb (Nathan) Saetveit of Omaha; grandchildren, Avery and Anna Sondall, Ben and Charlie Saetveit, and Paris and Felix Sondall; sister, Patricia Casotti of Boone; sister-in-law, Donna Paris of Boone; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Linda) Patterson of rural Boone and Steve (Cheryl) Sondall of Norwalk; along with many special nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the Pilot Mound Cemetery in Pilot Mound, IA.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left to Judy’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Judy’s family.
