BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 86 year old Roland William Schoff of Boone, Iowa. He passed away peacefully on October 19, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Roland was born on September 20, 1935 in Boone, Iowa, to William and Esther Schoff (Barnhart). He graduated from Boone High School. Roland was employed at several locations throughout his working career, Square Deal Gas Station, Boone Locker, and retired in 1996 from Mid-State Steel. He was married to Beverly Samuelson on May 5, 1957 and they enjoyed 64 wonderful years together.
Roland had a quick wit and could make anyone smile. He was generous to a fault. He was always the first one there to lend a helping hand if someone needed assistance. Roland enjoyed attending his families’ activities, playing cards, and going to the casinos. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Mt. Olive Lodge of Masons and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Roland was preceded in death by his parents William and Esther Schoff (Barnhart); sister Elizabeth Nelson; mother-in-law and father-in-law Wallace and Gladys Samuelson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and Robert Ziel; brother-in-law Roy Stockman, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Roland is survived by his wife Beverly, his three children: Kimberly (Monty) Shuey of Ogden, IA, Karyl (Gene) Jones of Huxley, IA, and Alan (Jennifer) Schoff of Boone, IA; grandchildren: Michelle (John) Duncan; Nicole Bollenbaugh (significant other Brad Lyons); Joseph (Kaylee) Uthe; Nathan Jones; Jacob Schoff (Fiancée Sarah Clark); Jentry Schoff, and Jaxon Schoff; great-grandchildren: Qyra, Ashlynn, Andrew, William, Ryker, and Nevaeh; sisters: Valenette (Ed) Heldt and Evelyn Stockman, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church or to the family for a memorial to Roland at a later date.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Burial will take place at Linwood Park Cemetery following the funeral service. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church.
