Arthur “Bill” Riddle III

KWBG 11/10/21

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for 60 year old Arthur “Bill” William Riddle III of Boone, Iowa  and formerly of Nevada, Iowa.  Bill died at UnityPoint- Iowa Methodist Hospital on Monday, November 8, 2021.

Bill was born on June 13, 1961 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, the son of Arthur William Riddle Jr. and Darlene A. (Jackson) Riddle. He had a close relationship with his siblings and helped take care of them growing up. Bill met Jerry McKinney at the age of 21, Jerry earned the title of Dad to Bill which was a big deal!

Bill and Jeri moved from Sioux City to Nevada in 2006. Bill worked as a sanitation worker for Aspen Waste Systems, formerly known as Chitty Garbage Service, Inc. for 14 years. In June of 2021, Bill and Jeri moved to Boone. In July, Bill was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer but he had the positive attitude of “I’m going to beat this!”

Bill was larger than life! He had a loud laugh, was quite the conversationalist and loved life. He had a big heart and would help his family and friends whenever they needed him. Not to mention he was protective of his loved ones.

Bill’s greatest accomplishment in life were his kids. He was so proud of them and would brag about them to everyone. He was a wonderful playmate when the kids were little. Bill always said, “Growing old is necessity, growing up is optional.” Bill was an adult when he had to be but was just a big kid at heart. He liked to give his wife the responsibility and the two made a perfect pair!

Bill had a love for classic music and classic cars, as he said, “When a car was a car”. His brothers would work on cars with him and occasionally get into a heated argument on who was doing something the wrong way. Bill also collected Hot Wheels Classic Cars; Jeri would lose him in the store for at least twenty minutes if he caught a glimpse of that aisle. He also loved to watch “NCIS”, M.A.S.H. and comedies to enjoy a good laugh.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Bud; and brother, Steven Riddle. He is survived by his parents, Jerry and Darlene McKinney; wife, Jeri Smith of Boone; children, Sami (Tommy) Hogue, Nathan Riddle, Steven Riddle and Neena Riddle; granddaughter, Shaelynn Riddle; brothers, Truman (Misty) McKinney and Robert “Robbie” Riddle; and sister, Cori (Arnie) Huntsrod.

A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M at the Christy Hall in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Bill Riddle Family, 503 Boone Street, Boone, IA, 50036.

Online condolences may be left at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
