DES MOINES, Iowa—The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources issued the weekly fuel report and showed that regular gasoline prices statewide were down 1 cent this week, averaging $3.04 across Iowa.
Crude Oil Summary- The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $2.24 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $71.87.
- Brent crude oil rose $1.89 and currently priced at $74.60.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $47.02 and Brent crude was at $49.88.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, December 22, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.04 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices fell 1 cent from last week’s price and 85 cents higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $3.30, down 2 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were down 1 cent this week with a statewide average of $3.33.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.41 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 25 cents less than the national average of $3.58.
- Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.14.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.13 for U87-E10, $2.20 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $2.31 for ULSD#2, $2.55 for ULSD#1, and $2.68 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Propane prices held steady with a statewide average of $1.89 per gallon.
- Home heating oil prices fell 6 cents, with a statewide average of $2.75 per gallon.
- Natural gas prices rose 3 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $3.92/MMbtu.
