Carol Sandholm

BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements have been set for Carol Jean Sandholm, 98, of Boone, Iowa. She passed away at Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born on December 13, 1923 in Claremont, Minnesota the daughter of Howard and Estella (Joselyn) Wise.

On February 27, 1947 she married Maurice Harry Sandholm in Barnum, Iowa. They lived in Webster and Boone County during their 73 year marriage. Besides supporting Maurice in the farm operation, Carol was an elementary teacher in several Boone and Webster County schools from 1942 to 1947 and 1964 to 1984.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone. At different times she enjoyed sewing, quilting, walking with friends, reading and did some painting. Carol was always interested in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and encouraged their educational efforts.

She was preceded in death by Howard and Estella Wise (parents); Maurice Sandholm (husband); Kevin Sandholm (son); Sisters – Mary (Wise) Anderson, Phyllis (Wise) Estlund

Survivors include Joy (Fred) Rouse, daughter; Evelyn Sandholm (daughter in law); grandchildren: Cindy (Dan) Carr, Roxanne (Brian) Huggins, Ben (Jennifer) Sandholm; great-grandchildren: Andrew Carr, Amelia Carr, Logan Huggins; sister Beverly Field, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.
