Boone County’s COVID Cases Surge

Posted on 14 January 2022 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Increased testing has resulted in a surge in positive COVID cases in Boone County. Dr. Brian Mehlhaus, Family Practitioner at Boone County Family Medicine and Chairman of the Boone County Board of Health, said on KWBG that the number of tests being conducted are also having an impact on the supply of test kits. He also says the majority of the positive tests are among unvaccinated people.

Mehlhaus passed along some helpful tips in regards to COVID:

* If you have taken a COVID home test and it is positive, you do not need to go to the Walk-In Clinic or the ER to be retested.

* If you have been sick with COVID for five days and you are feeling better, on day six you are allowed to go back to work. You DO NOT need a doctor’s signature to return to work.

According to data from CDC the number of positive tests in a seven day period in Boone County exceed 200 earlier this week.
