Schwind Wins State FFA Ag Proficiency Award in Veterinary Science

Posted on 08 March 2022 by KWBG

BOONE, Iowa—Bria Schwind, senior at Boone High School and daughter of Tim and Martha Schwind, was selected as the State FFA Winner for her Ag Proficiency Award in the area of Veterinary Science. Ag Proficiency Award winners have excelled in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Programs. These awards encourage members to develop specialized skills that will apply toward a future career. Schwind’s SAE program included two internships with area veterinary clinics where she developed skills working with both small and large animals as part of the Boone EDGE work-based learning program.

As the State winner, Bria will advance to the National FFA competition where she will compete against winners from the other State FFA Associations. The four national finalists that are selected from each area will be recognized at the National FFA Convention and Expo in October. Schwind will receive a plaque and cash award while being recognized on stage during the State FFA Convention on April 12, 2022 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.
