Duncan to Seek 2nd Term as Boone County Recorder

KWBG 03/24/22

BOONE, Iowa—Lifetime Boone County resident, Chris Duncan, is seeking the Democratic Nomination for Re-Election as Boone County Recorder.

Duncan began working in the Boone County Recorder’s Office as a Part-time Clerk. She began full-time with the office after the retirement of the late Joyce Lonergan. She was appointed as 2nd Deputy under Sheryl Thul and appointed 1st Deputy under Veronica Nystrom. She was elected and took office as Recorder in January of 2019. The knowledge she learned from her predecessors is priceless. She is a hands-on Recorder with always being there and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. She doesn’t ask her staff to do anything she wouldn’t do herself.

The office has seen many changes over the years with digital modernization. With the greatest being the digitization of real estate indexes. Duncan has had the historical indexes scanned into the computer and this summer will have the corresponding records scanned into the system. It is a great preservation of the records that are kept in the office.

Duncan is also a Certified County Recorder from the Iowa County Recorder’s Association. Having taken classes to receive this accreditation. She is also serving as the President of District 1, which includes 16 counties of Central Iowa, within the Iowa County Recorder’s Association, where before that she was the Secretary/Treasurer. She has also taken and received accreditation from The National Association of Counties Professional Development Academy earning the High-Performance Leadership Master Certificate.

Duncan knows that her longtime experience in the office, her dedication to serving the residents of Boone County and her certification from the Iowa County Recorder’s Association qualifies her for Re-Election as the Boone County Recorder. She said it has been a pleasure and honor to be in the Recorder’s Office the last 25 years, with the last 3 ½ years as the Recorder. She thanks you for your continued support come November and she looks forward to serving another 4 years.

Duncan and her husband of 32 years, Bob, have two grown daughters, Becca of Ames and Brooke of Boone.
