BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Sheriff Gregg Elsberry reported today that the Sheriff’s Department is investigating a workplace accident involving an excavator. Elsberry reported today that Friday morning, April 8th at 10:54, the Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to 70 C Avenue, Pickett’s Salvage yard regarding the accident.
Elsberry report that the male, identified as 57 year old Kevin Cummings of Boone, was physically walking around behind the excavator and was stuck by the excavator when the operator, who did not see Cummings, was turning and backing at the came time. Cummings died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
