DES MOINES, Iowa—The weekly fuel report has been released by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 8 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.80.
Crude Oil Summary- The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $.61 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $101.86.
- Brent crude oil fell $.33 and currently priced at $106.52.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $62.44 and Brent crude was at $65.34.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, April 20, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $3.86 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices rose 6 cents from last week’s price and $1.08 higher than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $4.11, up 3 cents from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa were up 8 cents this week with a statewide average of $4.80.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $3.02 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is 26 cents less than the national average of $5.06.
- Wholesale ethanol held steady and is currently priced at $2.16.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $2.97 for U87-E10, $3.33 for Unleaded 87 (clear), $3.97 for ULSD#2, $4.12 for ULSD#1, and $2.85 per gallon for E-70 prices.
Heating Fuels
- Natural gas prices rose 1 cent at the Henry Hub reporting site and are currently priced at $6.97/MMbtu.
- Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
