Madilyn Busch

BOONE, Iowa—Madilyn Mary (Stitz) Busch, age 91 of Boone, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2022 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home with her family surrounding her.

Madilyn was born on February 12, 1931 in Fairfax, MN, the daughter of William H. and Loretta Marie (Kolb) Stitz. She attended grade school in Fairfax, MN and graduated from Paton High School in 1949.

On September 9, 1950, Madilyn was united in marriage with George L. Busch in Jefferson. They lived and farmed south of Beaver for 14 years before moving to Boone in 1965 to continue farming.

Madilyn worked at Equitable Life Insurance from ’49 to ’50 and the Beaver Steakhouse as a waitress from ’61 to ’65. She was a full-time partner with George in farming and raising five children.

Madilyn was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She enjoyed playing bridge and bowling with the Loyal Ladies League, gardening vegetables and canning, reading mystery novels, crocheting and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities.

Madilyn was preceded in death by her parents, William Stitz and Loretta and Roy Tallman; and her husband, George on July 11, 2014.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori Burma of Boone; sons, Greg (Barb) Busch of Rockford, Tracy (Joyce) Busch, Joe (Lori) Busch and Marty (Jody) Busch, all of Boone; 12 grandchildren, Sheri (Jeff) Butler, Cory (Christie) Busch, Kelli (Greg) Flynn, Lisa (Andy) Timm, Jamie (Elizabeth) Busch, Kyle (Janeen) Busch, Tyler (Lacey) Busch, Kaci (Eric) Smith, Logan (Kelly Jo) Busch, Jared (Brianna) Burma, Haylee (John) Friedrich and Cade Burma; 21 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a step-brother, Lenny of CA.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:30 P.M. on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:30 P.M. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at the church. Private family burial will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Sacred Heart Church and the Boone Area Humane Society.
