Larry Edwards

BOONE, Iowa—Larry Dean Edwards, age 82 of Boone, passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Larry was born on March 5, 1940 at the family home in rural Orient, IA, the son of Louis F. and Reba (Steward) Edwards. He graduated from the Richland Township School in 1958.

Larry was united in marriage with Judith E. Ford on June 14, 1959 in Bridgewater. The couple just celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Larry went on to build his career in agriculture. He worked at an implement in Boone and had a John Deere partnership in Creston. Larry had to keep busy, even after retirement he held part time jobs; His favorite was Boone County Transportation as he loved picking the kids up for school.

Larry was a member of First United Methodist Church in Boone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping but his favorite thing to do was woodworking. He always had a project or two going, always including pieces of furniture for family and friends.

Larry loved his family (especially the grandchildren) and spending time together. While living further than they wished from the grandkids, they were fortunate for the time they spent together. The Edwards family took many family trips, including Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National Forest, Tennessee’s Smoky mountains and Alaska.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Lawrence and Marjorie Ford; sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Francis David; and brothers-in-law, Donnie Erickson and Roger Ford.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of Boone; son, Mike (Tammy) Edwards of Council Bluffs; daughter, Lisa (Terry) Lingner of Dallas Center; grandchildren, Adam Edwards and Kelsey (Jake) McKenzie, all of Council Bluffs; the first great grandchild is on the way; sister-in-law, Nancy Erickson; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Boone. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to First United Methodist Church.

Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets is in charge of arrangements.
