BOONE, Iowa—Drought conditions have improved locally due to rain last weekend. The drought monitor information released by the National Weather Service shows that abnormally dry conditions did decline while moderate drought conditions increased and so did the severe drought conditions. Extreme drought conditions in northwest Iowa did not change. The big difference is on location. Moderate drought conditions and severe drought conditions did expand in the southern and southeaster part of Iowa. Locally, moderate drought conditions were no limited to southeast Boone County and there was no drought reported in northeast Boone County.
