OGDEN, Iowa—Kenneth Wayne Kendall, age 63 of Ogden, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at his home.
Kenneth was born January 12, 1959 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of John and Martha Marlene (Mavin) McDaniel. His parents later separated and he was adopted by Robert Kendall. He graduated from Boone High School in the class of 1977.
Kenny was united in marriage with Rexanne LuRee Brandt on September 21, 1979 at her parents’ farm in Boone County. From this union were two sons and many foster children. Kenny and Rex were foster parents to countless children over the years and several at one. Kenny loved everyone as his own blood and was the most generous man you could have known.
Kenny was a deputy sheriff at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department for 26 years. He would hop on the “bus of truth” and get to the bottom of things. He made many friends throughout his years on the force with a few enemies as part of the job.
Kenny and Rex loved to go camping and fishing, accompanied by some great food. Kenny was quite the story teller and jokester; He was definitely the life of the party wherever he went. Kenny was the best grandpa and adored his grandchildren.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, John McDaniel and Martha and Robert Kendall. He is survived by his wife, Rexanne; sons, Scott (Charity) Kendall of Rippey and DeWayne Kendall (Bailey Reinhart) of Ames; grandchildren, Damien, Kameron and Briley; 2 great granddaughters; brothers, Glen (Robin) Kendall and Rodney (Denise) Kendall; sisters, Chris (Dave) Moody, Kathy (Jim) Peterson and Barbara (Justin) Shell; along with countless foster children and extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel. Per Kenny’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Quincy Cemetery, rural Boone.
